Hemalatha is the director of the ICMR-National Institute of Nutrition, India. As medical doctor by training she plays a leading role in Indian maternal and child health, and nutrition. She spearheaded the Estimated Average Requirements (EAR) and the Tolerable Upper Limits (TUL) for Indians - two seminal works on general nutrient requirements. With her excellent knowledge and in her leading position she is a grand advisor to the scientific consortium.
